Squat – a King of all exercises?

| Posted in Exercises, Training |

There are lots of people who don’t squat and say that squats are too hard and can harm your health…. Cowards! I believe squat is one of the best exercises. People don’t squat because they are a bit lazy and don’t want to work hard. It much harder to squat then leg press.

Squats hurt your knees? Nope. I’ve been squatting for quite some time and they aren’t hurting. If you don’t know HOW to squat properly then knees might hurt, but I’ve actually read that squats strengthen the knees not hurt them. And I am not talking about squatting partially until your thighs are parallel to the floor either… nooo… I squat my ass to the grass! And I love it. Your knee joints are safer when you perform full movement, not partial. They get full training. If you squat partially then you leave out hamstrings and but untrained. That creates imbalance in your body. And imbalance might cause an injury.
Squats are a compound movement and it is incredibly beneficial to do compound movements for skinny guys. They workout body the best. They increase the testosterone count in your blood (that’s very very good). If you can squat 1.5x your bodyweight (no easy task) then you are a strong guy! When you squat not only your quads get a workout, it’s your butt, your hamstring, your hips, your back (lower back acts like a stabilizer when squatting).
Squat is probably the King, because it gives your body a biggest challenge. And the more muscle have to work the better and bigger they grow!

If you agree or disagree with this post, leave a comment. I’d love to hear others’ opinion on it? Maybe you’d call deadlift or bench press the King of all exercises??

Cheers.
Adrian

Awesome, thanx mate ;)
Best of luck gaining!

I agree that the squat is one of the best exercises you can do, I only wish I’d started sooner! I never considered squats (or deadlifts) in my first 5 years of lifting weights, but since I’ve been doing them I feel strength throughout my entire body instead of just my upper body (this was to an extent due to me being in the army and running regularly so not wanting to fatigue my legs too much). I always squat deep, it feels more natural and comfortable and I like the glute/ham benefits. I am 5′8 and 155lbs and deep squat 100kg for 6 reps so I reckon my 1RM is about 115kg which I’m gonna try soon. I have always been a quick sprinter but now I look back in regret at not starting squatting sooner because if I did I coulda been much faster!

Thanx for sharing Paul!

Yeah, squats are great. I wish I had started doing them soon too.

Keep me updated on your squats progress! ;)
